An April Assortment.

It may have been a very dry and often warm and sunny month but as you will see from some of the following pictures there were a few days of low mist and cloud on the tops. Today, the final day of this month it is again clear and sunny but the fierce easterly wind that was a feature of yesterday and throughout the night is still blowing with gusts reaching gale force. I suspect it would be fairly unpleasant on the high tops. Almost all of the following pictures taken by Jean on her solo walks.

Apr 9th Looking WNW over Ambleside from the top of Wansfell. Loughrigg in the middle distance and the hills surrounding the head of Langdale in the far distance

Apr 14th. The solar powered Coniston Launch had just picked up passengers from the jetty below Torver Back Common.

Apr 15th Grasmere from Loughrigg Terrace.

Apr 22nd. The yacht "Chancy" belonging to a friend of ours arriving back at Waterhead following a long spell off the Lake for a major refit.

Apr 23rd. A dull misty day. Looking across to Lonscale Fell from the path to Blencathra.

Apr 23rd Nearing the top of Blencathra mist rising up the southern slopes obscures the summit.

Apr 28th.Early on the way up Skiddaw looking across the low lying land between Derwentwater and Bassenthwaite Lake towards the hills of the Coledale Horseshoe.

Apr 28th. Descending from Skiddaw towards Skiddaw Little Man. The Dodds and the Helvellyn Range in the middle distance.

Apr 28th. From the top of Skiddaw Little Man, Carlside, Longside and Ullock Pike with the Cumbrian Coast in the far distance. The final scree slopes of Skiddaw on the right.

Apr28th. The final bit of the descent from Skiddaw. Slopes of Lonscale Fell on the left with the rounded tops of Great and Little Mell Fells beyond. Top right is Clough Head.

Apr 29th. A carpet of bluebells in Banerigg Woods above Grasmere.

And finally......Apr 29th. Grasmere and Helm Crag from the so called "Penny Rock Woods."

Anyway, by the end of May I should have more information about the ankle problem. In the meantime Jean will be out taking pictures to keep the website going on a monthly basis, so keep watching.
